Miracles still happen:a new Van Gogh painting has been unveiled and reminds me of my childhood

An amazing landscape that has been hidden in a Norwegian attic for years has been authenticated as a work by Vincent Van Gogh. The piece can be dated to the exact day it was painted because the artist described it in a letter to his brother, Theo, saying he had painted it the previous day - on 4 July 1888.

Painted when he lived in Arles, 'Sunset at Montmajour' features a striking blue ruined abbey on the hill of Montmajour. Sunset at Montmajour was unveiled at a ceremony in the Dutch city and Axel Rüger, director of the museum, called it a "once in a lifetime experience".

It feels amazing to see that miracles can still happen. The revelation of this work is particularly emotional for me as I grew up in Arles from 1987 to 1997 and Montmajour evokes a lot of childhood memories...
